Scripture printed text: Mark 2:1-12

In the gospel of Mark, he writes about Jesus healing ministry in His home town Capernaum. Jesus teaching, healing and miracle ministry caused great excitement because the community has never experienced a healer teach like Jesus. The townspeople brought all their sick and demon possessed to Jesus, and His great compassions, He healed all of them. Jesus, while in the house preaching the word to them, the house was so packed with so many people that there was no more room, even outside the door.

Four men carrying one sick with palsy to Jesus to heal him. Palsy was a disability that causes loss of motor functions of muscles or certain nerves. Because the house had no room to enter, these men opened up the house roof and lowered their friend on his bed to where Jesus was. This was a great act of faith these men displayed. They believed that if they could get their friend close enough to Jesus, He would heal him. When Jesus saw what these four men did, by going to the extreme to get their friend to Jesus. He said unto the man with the palsy lying on his bed, your sins are forgiven. There were some religious leaders present and they thought what Jesus said was blasphemy, because only God can forgive sins. Jesus perceived what they were thinking in their hearts, He asked them a question. Which is easier to say to the paralyzed man, your sins are forgiven, or stand up, pick up your bed and walk? Jesus said to the religious leaders present, that you might know that the Son of man has power to forgive, He turned to the man with the palsy and said, arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house. Immediately, the man arose, took up his bed, and walked out. Great amazement filled the people and glorified God saying we’ve never seen anything like this before.

Church, we serve a God who is great in compassions, mighty teacher, preacher, healer and miracle worker. Who has the power to forgive sin and set free those who are bound? Jesus is the only Son of God and God gave Him power to teach, preach, heal and perform miracles. Jesus is concerned with our whole life; physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. Let us seek Jesus to touch us and supply all of our needs. Pray for God’s healing on our lives and on the lives of others. As you have experienced God’s healing in your own life, share with others how God sustained you through your time. So that others will know that they are not alone.
