James, the half-brother and servant of Jesus, writes to the Christian Jews and Greeks believers in Christ. He give them some practical instructions on how to live godly in the midst persecution and mistreatment. James instructs the believers facing persecution for their faith, to conduct themselves accordingly. He tells them to seek God’s wisdom so they would act honorably to best represent their faith in Christ. Secondly, James says that not only one’s conduct as a believer, but how they live their life before the world. Because one’s life is a reflection of one’s faith in Christ Jesus.
Church, let us be mindful of who we are and to whom we represent. Christ Jesus purchased our salvation, and the way we live our lives before the world, reveals our true devotion to Christ. Pray and seek God’s wisdom so we can remain Spirit-filled in the midst of adversity. In doing so, we will be able to be swift to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger.
